We warmly welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year at McKay Elementary! 

First Day Timing and Information

Our first day, Tuesday September 2^nd, is only one hour- please see the attachment for timing, and where to drop off your child. 

Wednesday September 3-Friday September 5^th are full days from 8:45am-2:45pm.  Drop off and pick up will be at the same door as Tuesday, unless students are told otherwise.  Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the weather, and with a water bottle, snack, and lunch.  We are not able to heat up lunches. 

A special note for this year’s kindergarten students:

All kindergarten students will meet outside on September 2^nd from 10-11am in the hockey court area near the swings.  Mrs. Johnsen and Ms. Allesia have fun outdoor activities planned for the first day, and families are welcome to stay or drop off.

Please follow the Kindergarten Gradual Entry Schedule for Group A or Group B which was emailed in July.

Pick Up/Drop Off
Our parking lot and streets around the school are very busy before and after school-  please slow down, and drive with care to ensure the safety of our students.  Use the designated drop off lane only… do not drop off in the middle of the parking lot.  Please follow parking/traffic signage, and do not drop off/pick up in private apartment complexes. 

A new face in the office

If you come by the office, you will meet Ms. Elaine Lo, our new senior administrative assistant.  Years ago, Ms. Lo was previously a noon hour supervisor at McKay, and we are very happy to have her back at our school in this new role.

Delayed Return to School

• Please inform the office asap if you know your child will not be able to attend school during the first week of school and by the expected return date.
