Gardening has taken off at McKay!
Div. 6 students are growing potatoes as part of the SPUDS IN TUBS program. BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (BCAITC) has been providing schools across the province with an opportunity for teachers to grow potatoes in the classroom since 2006. The students of Div. 6 have been excited to see the rapid growth of the potato plants.
Last week our school was gifted with 4 flats of plants from Urban Roots Garden Market. They donated 126 starter plants to each school that signed up. We are growing broccoli, cauliflower, chives, basil, spinach, romaine lettuce, strawberries, kale, parsley, and cucumber. We can't wait to sample all these fresh vegetables!
